(KNSI) — Residents in Sauk Rapids are being asked to watch out for a bear on the loose.

The police department posted on their Facebook page Monday morning that they received a report of a bear wandering near 15th Street Northeast and 20th Avenue Northeast. The post says it appears to be a “smaller in size bear,” but one poster said they saw it near their home by Pleasantview and “it’s not a small one.”

Residents are asked not to approach or feed the bear. The Department of Natural Resources says to properly store food and garbage where bears can’t get at it.

The DNR website says to report a nuisance animal, call the local Wildlife Manager or Conservation Officer

Anyone who sees a black bear outside its primary range is asked to report the information to the DNR. Learn more by clicking here.
