(KNSI) — April climate stats for the state of Minnesota are in, and it was the cold, wet, mud puddle you thought it was.

The St. Cloud area was below average for temperatures and snowfall and above average for precipitation. Preliminary data from the National Weather Service shows the average temperature was 39.3 degrees, which is four degrees below average, 1.9″ of snowfall, which is 2.8″ below average. The area saw 3.55″ of precipitation, which is .94″ above average. Spring 2022 was the coldest on record since 2018, which was the second coldest ever.

As for snowfall through the season, St. Cloud saw 49.6″ which was 1.8″ above average.

If you thought April was not just cold and wet but dark, too, it’s not your imagination. Area daily solar radiation was also below average.

Forecasters say after a cold start to May, temps will warm to above average, but it will also be wet. May has a 40% to 50% chance of above-average rainfall.
