(KNSI) — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Morrison County.

According to the BCA, it happened just before 6:00 Thursday night near the city of Bowlus. Agents from the West Central Drug Task Force were attempting to make a traffic stop, and a trooper from the Minnesota State Patrol and a deputy from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department discharged their handguns, hitting a “white male in the vehicle.” Lifesaving measures were reportedly taken, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person in the car was also hurt, but those injuries were not revealed. Investigators say they recovered a gun from the scene.

The trooper was wearing a bodycam that captured portions of the incident. A press release says the investigation is in the early stages, and the BCA will release more information.

The BCA has not said why police were trying to stop the vehicle.

No officers were hurt.
