(KNSI) – Saint John’s University and Saint Cloud State University are both ranked among the top ten schools based on educational value, within Minnesota. Smart Asset compiled the list basing each school on five separate metrics.

Tuition, cost of student living, including housing and food, and graduate starting salary were all weighted at 25 percent. The number of scholarships and grants students are eligible for contributed to 12.5 percent of the ranking, along with the percentage of students who re-enroll each year (known as the retention rate).

The State of Minnesota did not have a single institution place in the top-40 nationwide. The U of M’s Twin Cities campus finished first within the state. Minnesota-Duluth was second, followed by Saint John’s University. Saint Cloud State was ninth in Minnesota.

The top-scoring college overall was the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Engineering schools overall dominate the top of the list, with some exceptions. MIT was graded at 100 and all other schools were pegged at a percentage of its overall score. Saint John’s garnered 52.60 and SCSU was at 46.26.
