(KNSI) — A man who died in an officer-involved shooting in northern Minnesota Wednesday was wanted out of Morrison County.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says about 4:45 a.m., deputies and police from Hibbing, Chisolm, Virginia, and the Minnesota State Patrol were looking for a suspect and vehicle wanted in connection with a recent felony-level crime in Morrison County. The press release does not specify what that crime was.
A deputy reportedly found the unoccupied vehicle at 7:15 a.m. in the city of Chisolm. The press release says, “contact was made with the suspect, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.” No officers were hurt.
Life-saving measures were taken immediately after the shooting, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has taken over the investigation.
