(KNSI) – Stearns County voters will need to check the new maps after officials have finalized the boundaries for the board of commissioners districts.
District One is mainly north St. Cloud and will now include part of the southside neighborhood. District Two is the Sartell and St. Joseph area and will new include Brockway Township. LeSauk, St. Wendel and St. Joseph Township are also in the second district. District Three, which is the Cold Spring area, now includes the cities of Collegeville, Fair Haven, Paynesville, Roscoe and St. Augusta. Lynden and Zion Township are also now in district three. District Four shrunk in square miles and is now made up of southern St. Cloud and Waite Park. District Five includes most of western Stearns County and has expanded to Holdingford and Avon.
The first district is represented by Tarryl Clark, the second district by Joe Perske, the third district by Jeff Mergen, the fourth district by Leigh Lenzmeier and the fifth district is Steve Notch.
Citizens were able to provide input through the Stearns County website or during public input sessions held in February.
The lines are redrawn every ten years to ensure the county’s population is divided and represented equally. The district’s population varies by less than 5% from district to district. Stearns County’s population was 158,292 in 2020. That’s an increase of 5.1% compared to the 150,642 people in 2010.
