(KNSI) – Students in Sartell have been as busy outside the classroom as in it, with the school year beginning to wind down. Superintendent Jeff Ridlehoover spoke about various extracurricular activities during his report to the district’s board of education at Monday’s meeting.

Two art students will be showcasing their work at a prestigious venue in the coming months. Members of the Sartell-Saint Stephen arts program exhibited pieces at the Minnesota State High School Visual Arts Festival at Alexandria Technical College last week.

Ridlehoover says several got high marks. “Seven of our Sartell High School students came with excellent and superior ratings and two of our students earned Best in Show, which qualifies them for the art exhibition and festival at the Perpich Center for the Arts later this year.”

On April 8th, the district hosted the Central Lakes Music Conference Music Festival, something that happens once every eight years or so. Ridlehoover says, “That event was highlighted by a Grand Performance [consisting of] the top performers of each of the conference’s schools.” Orchestra, choir, and band are all eligible to participate.

Ridlehoover also highlighted the Sabre Speech Team. He says it had “four of the top eight competitors at the section tournament.”

He included reports on the robotics program and announcements for the newest class of the National Honor Society. The meeting was only about 30 minutes, including public comment.
