(KNSI) – Construction is expanding to the point that crews are closing a stretch of Cooper Avenue South entirely, beginning Monday. Utility work had already dropped the road down to one lane between 17th Street South and Linda Lane since early April, the beginning phases of a $6.1 million project.

The Saint Cloud Engineering Department says Cooper Avenue South will be shut down from Roosevelt Road down to 17th Street South. If the weather cooperates, work is slated to finish on Friday, June 3rd.

The project includes road resurfacing, installation of a sidewalk on the west side of Cooper, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, gutter, and curb restoration, a new water main, and putting in street lighting between University Drive and 22nd Street South.
