(KNSI) — Sartell Deputy Fire Chief Jim Sattler has resigned his position, effective immediately.
Deputy Chief Sattler handed in his resignation at Monday night’s city council meeting.
He started his career as a firefighter in 1988 and has held every position in the department, including six years as volunteer Fire Chief and over 20 years as a Chief Officer. City officials say he was an integral part of the transition from a volunteer chief to the first full-time fire chief until the city hired Peter Kedrowski last spring. Sattler then moved to the Deputy Chief role.
A press release from the city says, “The Sartell City Council and City Staff would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Jim for his dedication to the Sartell Fire Department and the safety of our community over the past 33 years.”
Chief Kedrowski chimed in, expressing his gratitude, saying he is “extremely thankful for the hard work that Jim put in as Fire Chief, setting the stage for continued success for the Fire Department and myself. He will be missed.”
The city did not give a reason for the resignation.
