Earth Day Run Closing Several Roads This Weekend

(KNSI) — The Earth Day Run will have participants crisscrossing Saint Cloud this weekend, forcing road closures. 5th Avenue from St. Germain Street West to 1st Street South, approximately one block, will be shut down the longest. Commuters will need to find an alternate route from 3:00 PM Friday to noon on Saturday.

Friday afternoon and evening will be dominated by the Adventure One-Kilometer and five-kilometer run/walk. The route for the 5K begins at Munsinger and Clemens Gardens, before following the Mississippi River north and crossing into downtown on 1st/2nd Street North.

The full list of closures from 3:00 to 8:00 Friday is below.

– St. Germain Street West from 5th Avenue South to 7th Avenue South
– 7th Avenue from St. Germain Street West to 2nd Street North
– 1st/2nd Street North from 7th Avenue North to Riverside Drive SE
– Riverside Drive SE from St. Germain Street East to University Drive Bridge

The half marathon is Saturday morning, expected to last from 7:00 to 11:30. The race is roughly ten miles longer than what is happening Friday and its route encompasses more of the city. Interruptions for motorists will be extensive. A map of the course is available here.
