(KNSI) — The Rox Reading Program is enjoying record popularity this year. Almost 13,000 students from 39 different elementary and middle schools across Central Minnesota are taking part. They are enrolled in 571 separate classrooms.
The program encourages students to pick up a book when they aren’t at their desk for four weeks throughout the month of April. Prizes are available to students, including custom Rox bookmarks, tickets to games this summer, and drawstring bags for their books. Two teachers will receive a $250 gift card for new reading materials in their classroom. One school will get $1,000 to upgrade its library.
The Rox Reading Program has been around for 11 years and has reached a milestone this year. Over 100,000 students have taken part since it was first implemented. The club teams up with Magnifi Financial, based in Melrose, Minnesota, for the initiative.
