(KNSI) — Saint Cloud Norsemen Nik Hong is headed to one of the country’s leading universities to play in the fall. Hong has announced a commitment to play NCAA Division One hockey at Dartmouth University, an Ivy League school.

Hong says education is important to him, making Dartmouth a natural fit. “Having the opportunity to go to a world-class school while also being able to play high-level Division I hockey made Dartmouth a no-brainer for me.”

Hong has suited up for two years with the Norsemen, but the Minneapolis native really blossomed in the current season. Dressing for 51 games, he recorded 17 goals at forward and added 32 assists. The Norsemen have already clinched the North American Hockey League’s Central Division. The team is looking for its first Robertson Cup when the postseason begins later this month.

The Dartmouth Big Green were 7-22-3 this season, coming off a year that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
