(KNSI) — From high school to a college commitment in barely a month, with a stop in the North American Hockey League and state honors in the interim. Max Strand’s had a hectic schedule the 40 days, or so.
Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey has been on the ice since early March with the St. Cloud Norsemen, chipping in nearly a point per game recently for the NAHL Central Division champs. He’ll help them in the postseason, but come fall he’s off to the University of Vermont. Strand has committed to the Hockey East program for his NCAA career. He’ll try to turn around the Catamount’s fortunes. The green and gold have not given the fans at Gutterson Fieldhouse much to cheer for recently. Vermont finished in 10th place, ahead of only Maine by a lone point in the conference standings this season.
Strand paced the Roseau Rams in his senior year with 72 points in 27 games. The northern Minnesota high school lost to Elk Rapids in the Section 8AA semifinals. Strand received the state’s top high school honor on March 13th.
