(KNSI) — There will be music in the summer in Saint Cloud again, by George! Lake George, that is. Saint Cloud Rotary unveiled the 2022 Summertime by George lineup Tuesday evening, announcing an opening act and headliner for all ten weeks of the program.

The concert series has blossomed in its first decade, from an average of about 4,000 people per show to as many as 20,000 on certain Wednesday nights. Entertainment Committee member Kimberly Magnuson says there will be some new sounds in 2022.

“Primarily I think we’ve done a lot of classic rock in the past, because a lot of people enjoy that, it’s a great genre. We wanted to kind of bring in something a little bit different this year and have some R&B, and some more funk type music. We’ve got some country acts this year.”

Because of the incredible popularity of Summertime By George, its profile among performers is on the rise. Magnuson says, “We are pulling interest in from the Twin Cities metro area. So, it’s kind of fun to expand our reach a little bit.”

The full lineup is here. The first concert is June 22nd. The opening act that night is Kat Blue. The five-piece band had three members perform at the Best Western Kelly Inn for the announcement banquet. The room was arranged to hold 100 people, and an overflow crowd turned out.
