(KNSI) – More than $10,000 was raised by a St. Cloud area Catholic elementary school teacher from auctioning off quilts he made with students over the years. Deacon John Wocken is a second-grade teacher at St. Katharine Drexel School, and for the last 29 years, he’s been making quilts with his students for a project.

In March, the quilts were put in an online auction, with the proceeds supporting students going to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School in St. Cloud.

Bids on the quilts closed on Thursday, and the sales brought in $10,840. Officials with Catholic Community Schools called the outpouring of support ‘incredible.’ Several people have continued to donate even after the auction closed.

Donations for the school will be kept open for another week. If you would like to donate and help support Catholic education, click here.
