(KNSI) – Road construction season begins soon, and a handful of projects will cause drivers delays in Central Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Transportation revealed its list of 2022 projects on Thursday. MnDOT is planning 184 road projects statewide and over 50 projects involving airports, ports, and transit systems. Construction will cost around $1 billion.

Highway 23 will be widened between Paynesville and Richmond from two lanes to four lanes. Work will take place between April and November 2023. There will be detours set up.

Workers will repave more than 12 miles of Highway 23 between Foley and Milaca and add a roundabout in Foley. Work will take place between May and November. A detour will be in place.

The projects include reconstructing Highway 15 from south of the railroad tracks to Highway 55 in Kimball. Crews will be installing pedestrian sidewalks and city utilities. A detour will be in place while construction is underway from April to July.

Constriction will begin near the Sauk River on Interstate 94 in St. Cloud in August. Work should be completed in October. This year, work will finish on Interstate 94 between Maple Grove and Clearwater, including wrap-up work between St. Michael and Albertville.

MnDOT will start a three-year reconstruction of Highway 169 in Elk River into a freeway, including four new interchanges that will improve traffic flow, increase capacity and improve motorist and pedestrian safety.

Officials remind people to pay attention to signage in construction zones and adjust their speed accordingly.
