(KNSI) — The Central Minnesota Community Foundation is opening funding rounds for two grants aimed to help youth and rural communities.

The Thomas A. Ritsche Youth Fund Grant rewards organizations that are putting a dent in crime taking place against minors. It will also reward those helping to reduce illegal acts committed by children and adolescents. In the past, it has gone to aid groups like the Boys and Girls Club’s local chapter. Each group selected will be awarded between $5,000 and $10,000. The deadline for an organization to apply is May 31st.

The Rural Poverty and Programs grant gives up to $20,000 for general operating expenses, to supplement existing emergency programs or help create special initiatives that serve smaller communities in the area. Agencies have until June 30th to apply.

The Central Minnesota Community Foundation has given out nearly $135 million the past two decades for various causes.
