(KNSI) – The Department of Veterans Affairs will create a Vet Center Outstation in St. Cloud. According to a press release, a Vet Center Outstation provides counseling for veterans, active duty service members and their families. The VA plans to open the Outstation in the Spring of 2024.
Officials say Vet Center Outstations are community-based satellites in leased spaces where a counselor can help services at no cost. Outstations have individual and group counseling rooms, a reception area, facilities, and a staff break room. According to the VA, Services and staffing levels can adjust and expand as community demand increases.
Officials say the VA determined an Outstation in St. Cloud would help close gaps to respond to the needs of area veterans.
“Veterans and service members trust in Vet Centers to provide connection, confidential counseling and community and have been positively impacted by these services,” said VA Deputy Under Secretary for Health Performing the Delegable Duties of the Under Secretary for Health Steven Lieberman, M.D. “We remain committed to ensure these life-changing services are convenient and accessible.”
There are three Vet Centers in Minnesota located in Anoka, Duluth, and St. Paul. The Anoka Vet Center will oversee the St. Cloud Vet Center Outstation.
