(KNSI) — A public hearing is set for Monday night for the Planned Use Development of the Gulf Eagle Supply building.

Developers are looking to breathe new life into the building at 539 East St. Germain Street as a multi-use space to house a microbrewery and distillery with an event center a reception hall. The Planning Commission recommended rezoning the building from industrial to commercial use on August 10th, 2021, and again on March 8th.

Originally built in 1928, the building once housed the truck and tractor assembly for the International Harvester company before becoming home to Gulfeagle Supply, which is a professional roofing and home contractor, but has stood empty The hope for the 3.38-acre site is to set off a revitalization of sorts for the area along East St. Germain Street and the east side.

The motion could pass on a simple four-vote majority.
