(KNSI) – A Winona native is free after being detained by Russian forces for roughly 10 days. Tyler Jacob was nabbed at the Ukrainian border by invading forces and separated from his family.
The United States Department of State and the country’s embassy in Moscow have been working to get Jacob released. United States Senator Amy Klobuchar says, “I am relieved that Tyler is safely reunited with his wife and daughter. Over the last two weeks, my team and I have been in close contact with his family, the State Department, and the U.S. embassy in Moscow working towards this outcome, and I am grateful that we were able to help bring him to safety.”
In a press release, Tyler’s mother, Tina Hauser, described the situation as a “parent’s worst nightmare.” His father, John Quinn, worries about the countless others dealing with something similar. He said, “My heart goes out to the many families that are still enduring the horror in Ukraine.”
Russia invaded the country over one month ago.
