(KNSI) – A Stearns County Sheriff’s Deputy and dispatcher are being credited with saving a young eagle found on the side of a road. Officials say Deputy Zach Milne got the call of an injured eagle on County Road 17 near County Road 168 in Millwood Township.

Dispatcher Brianna Arnett called the Minnesota Raptor Center to see what should be done. The center tried to locate a volunteer to pick up the injured eagle, but In the meantime, Deputy Milne went to the scene and got the eagle using his jacket.

He brought the bird back to St. Cloud, where Dispatcher Arnett volunteered to drive the eagle to the Raptor Center. The sheriff’s office says there is no word on the eagle’s condition. Officials hope to get an update next week.
