(KNSI) — A 35-year-old man is under arrest after allegedly punching a person on a bike and robbing them.

According to the criminal complaint, about 6:45 Monday evening, police were called to University Drive South and 11th Avenue South for a reported robbery. The victim told police he was riding his bike down University Drive when he saw two people standing near the sidewalk behind a house on 12th Avenue South. As he went to pass them, one of them, identified in court papers as Cordell Martez Hall, approached him and hit him in the face. Investigators say the victim had blood on his face, hands, and down the front of his torso.

He said he fell to the ground and believed he was knocked unconscious. The first thing he said he remembered after the punch was looking up and realizing Hall was on top of him, going through his pockets. He said Hall tried to hit him again, but he was able to run away and take refuge in a passing car. The man told police he was missing $21.

Police say they found Hall walking near the area of Go For It Gas and told him to stop, but he kept walking. Police told him again to stop and that he was under arrest, but he refused to stop and had to be physically restrained before being taken into custody. He allegedly refused to tell police his name or provide ID and screamed and swore at them. Police said when they searched Hall, they found $21, two knives, and two empty pistol magazines.

Hall has been charged with simple robbery and fifth-degree assault.
