(KNSI) — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Mahnomen County over the weekend.
Officials say a woman was injured after being shot by a Mahnomen County deputy she led on a pursuit. The sheriff’s office says the deputy was trying to initiate a traffic stop about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the woman took off, leading him on a chase. That chase ended in the Village of Naytahwaush after she drove into the ditch.
The sheriff’s office says “shots were fired” after the vehicle came to a stop, and the woman was hurt. She was taken to a hospital in Fargo. Her condition wasn’t released.
The deputy was not hurt, and they are on administrative leave pending further investigation. A firearm was allegedly recovered at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
