(KNSI) — Two people suffered minor injuries following a fiery crash near St. Stephen Monday morning.

According to a press release from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Steve Soyka happened across the crash about 7:25 at the intersection of County Road 2 and 360th Street, about two miles south of St. Stephen. Investigators say 36-year-old Matthew Strack, of St. Stephen, was driving on 360th Street when he slid through the intersection with County Road 2.

Deputies say 38-year-old Robyn Dibblee, of St. Stephen, was going south on County Road 2 when she saw Strack sliding through the stop sign and was unable to stop. Dibblee’s truck ended up hitting Strack’s truck on the passenger side. Strack was able to get out of his truck before it burst into flames.

The sheriff’s office says both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and had their airbags deployed. Part of County Road 2 was temporarily closed while emergency responders cleared the scene.

Sheriff Soyka says, “We all know Minnesota’s weather is unpredictable, especially this time of year. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to give themselves that little extra bit of time when road conditions are poor.”
