(KNSI) — An investigation is underway after a shooting in Avon Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in at 9:28 a.m. for an 18-year-old who has been shot in chest on the 300 block of Char Avenue Northeast. He was conscious and breathing when crews arrived. The victim was airlifted to North Memorial for treatment. His condition is not known.
The press release says during the initial portion of the call, the Avon Elementary School was placed into lockdown for a short period of time. Investigating officers are still working the case; however, at this time there is no ongoing danger to the public as this is not believed to be a random incident.
As this is an active and ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
