(KNSI) – Stearns County wants to hear from residents and explain the county’s redistricting process. Stearns county election officials are holding the informal listening session on Tuesday, February 22nd, at 6:00 p.m. at the Stearns County Service Center in Waite Park.

According to a press release, it’s an opportunity to hear a quick overview of what the redistricting process looks like and give opinions or comments.

Redistricting is required every ten years to make sure each district represented by elected officials represents roughly the same amount of people. Stearns County’s population grew by 5.1%, going from 150,642 residents to 158,292.

Anyone who wants to comment on the redistricting process is asked to sign-up via email to speak in person or fill out a feedback form if they cannot attend.

Feedback will be limited to three minutes and will be heard in the order they are received. For questions, contact the Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer office: 320-656-3920 or email elections@co.stearns.mn.us

St. Cloud is scheduled to release its proposed redistricting maps on Wednesday.
