(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect from noon to 9:00 p.m. Friday.

Forecasters say northwest winds between 25 and 35 miles an hour are expected, with gusts up to 55 miles an hour possible at times. Snow showers or snow squalls may accompany a cold front sweeping through midmorning to midafternoon Friday before the strongest winds arrive. Snow squalls are a narrow band of intense snow showers that can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter mile.

Accumulations of less than an inch are expected.

Areas of blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility at times. In addition, temperatures will crash from the 30s to the teens in the afternoon, which may result in a flash freeze.
