(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Patrol says a Melrose man is dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 394 Friday morning.

A crash report from the state patrol says just before 4:00 a.m., a 20-year-old from St. Anthony was driving his Jeep Wrangler west in the eastbound lanes of traffic from 6th Street in downtown Minneapolis when they crashed head-on into a car driven by the 30-year-old from Melrose. His name has not been released. His 21-year-old passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The driver of the Jeep, who police say may have been drinking before the crash, was also hurt. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center.

I-394 closed for cleanup and reconstruction, but it has since reopened.
