(KNSI) – Officials are asking for help uncovering the mysterious circumstance behind the death of a Waverly man nearly four years ago.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s says Sunday will mark four years from the day that 40-year-old Shawn Medley’s body was found in rural Ellsworth Township, about five miles south of Litchfield. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Medley’s death and renew their plea for anyone with information about his death to come forward.
Medley was reported missing from his home in Waverly on February 8th, 2018. His vehicle, a 2010 Silver Hyundai Elantra, was found abandoned in Litchfield two days later. The medical examiner determined Medley died of an overdose, but evidence suggests he did not die at the rural location where his body was found.
According to a press release, investigators have followed numerous leads in the four years since Medley’s death, but the case remains open and unsolved.
“There are people out there who know what happened and we need those people to step forward,” Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze said. “It is our mission to give Shawn’s family the closure they deserve.”
Anyone who has information or had contact with Shawn Medley from early February 8th to February 11th, 2018, is encouraged to call the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office at 320-693-5400. Information can also be left on the Sheriff’s Office confidential tip line at 320-693-541.
