(KNSI) – The 43rd annual trivia weekend is coming to St. Cloud State University.

This year’s trivia theme is “LITerally Trivia: A Novel Idea” and will quiz teams on all things literature, from horror and romance to biographies and memoirs. Last year, 58 teams participated in the three-day contest.

Typically, an hour of the contest features nine questions to be answered by calling a phone bank. The winning team receives the Minnesota Masters Of Trivia Traveling Trophy, featuring the names of all winning teams for the past 40 years.

Due to the pandemic, this year’s contest has been shortened to 38 hours instead of the usual 50-hour competition.

The trivia weekend runs from 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 18th to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20th and will break each night from 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Registration is $50, but high school and area college teams are free. Teams must be registered by 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 18th.

The trivia weekend relies on hundreds of volunteers to staff the trivia telephone hotlines. This year, the contest will have a virtual interactive phone bank system as well as a limited number of in-person volunteers.
