(KNSI) – The 47th annual Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby is this Saturday.
The Official Ice Fishing Derby runs from 12:00-3:00 p.m. followed by the Ice Auger Drilling Contest. The awards are scheduled to run at 3:30 p.m. followed by the after-party until 8:00 p.m. The 47th largest Northern Pike caught wins an Ice Castle fish house.
The Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby is the largest in Minnesota, and one of the oldest. The event will be on Maple Lake, less than a mile east of the city of Maple Lake on highway 55 in Wright County.
There’s a $5.00 entry fee with door prizes, raffle ticket drawings, and fishing clinics for kids. Shuttles will run from downtown locations to the derby site. Food and beverages will be available on the ice.
