(KNSI) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested a suspect who was accused of touching himself in front of teenagers.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called on February 1st to a business in the 300 block of 2nd Street South in Waite Park for a man who was exposing himself. Workers there told officers that the suspect, Steven McConnell, had been touching himself at various places around the restaurant. One of the workers, a 15-year-old, said they were wiping down a table when McConnell was looking at her and laughing while he was touching himself. An adult said they saw McConnell exposing himself, and another teen said they also saw McConnell touching himself in another part of the restaurant before getting up and going into the bathroom.
Police say they found the 43-year-old McConnell in the bathroom, and he “appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol” and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for detox.
McConnell was arrested in Eugene, Oregon, for indecent exposure, which is a felony, in 2018. The criminal complaint says he pled guilty, and the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.
McConnell has been charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of indecent exposure. He is due back in court on July 15th.
