(KNSI) – A man in Waite Park is accused of hitting a woman in the head with a hammer because she was moving too slow. Police were called to a home on Thursday afternoon after 31-year-old Andre Shyron Kidd allegedly assaulted the woman.

When officers arrived, the victim was standing outside while holding
her head and had blood on her hands and in her hair. The woman says Kidd became mad at her because she was moving too slow and grabbed her around her throat, causing her to see “stars.” The woman says she could not breathe when Kidd had his hands around her throat.

According to the criminal complaint, Kidd grabbed a claw hammer and
struck the victim in the head twice. The woman says Kidd tried to keep her from leaving the home.

Officers observed the woman had popped blood vessels and bruising on both sides of her neck, a large bump on the left side of her forehead that was starting to bruise, and blood dripping from the left side of her head.

Kidd has been charged with assault in the 2nd degree with a dangerous weapon. Bond was set at $300,000.
