(KNSI) – Emergency crews were called to an unresponsive man on the ice on Lake Mille Lacs last weekend.
According to the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Department, 73-year-old Michael Reade Vadnie of St. Cloud went to his fish house on Lake Mille Lacs Friday night after asking staff at a nearby resort to check on him that evening and the next morning.
Resort staff checked on the man Friday night and found him asleep in his ice house. At approximately 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning staff found the door to the ice house open and Vadnie lying outside with both arms and legs frozen, unresponsive, and barely breathing. He was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
An update on the social media site Caring Bridge said the man is recovering at HCMC.
