(KNSI) – A twelfth school employee has died from COVID-19 since the start of the school year. The Minnesota Department of Health included the latest death in Thursday’s COVID-19 update.
Education Minnesota says 20 school staff members and three students have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Minnesota officials don’t provide specific details about COVID-19 deaths connected with schools.
Education Minnesota continues to ask MDH to release anonymous summary information about the school staff members who have died and the more than 550 students and staff members hospitalized with COVID-19.
Education Minnesota says the information would help school district decision-makers improve safety protocols for students and staff.
