(KNSI) — Minnesota-based Winnebago Industries Incorporated rolled out an all-electric RV camper van concept at the RV Super Show in Florida Tuesday.
The Winnebago e-RV is built based on a Ford Transit van. Instead of a gas powertrain, it has an electric motor and an 86 kilowatt-hour battery pack. It has a 125-mile range per charge. The vehicle brags a toilet and a water heater for hot showers, air conditioning, induction cooktop, and a refrigerator. It also has a high-speed Wi-Fi network and an interior manufactured with sustainable materials like rubberized cork flooring and wool wall trim that doubles as insulation.
The concept version of the Winnebago Industries e-RV is the first all-electric motorhome designed by a major RV manufacturer. According to a press release from Lightning eMotors, the vehicle’s electric powertrain provider, the e-RV includes an integrated control system that enables operation of the vehicle’s subsystems and displays system information and controls on a digital display.
The e-RV can be plugged in at public high-speed charging stations and takes about 45 minutes to charge. It can also be plugged into a campground’s electrical hookup or at the owner’s home.
