(KNSI) — A Kimball man is facing charges after allegedly trying to rob someone who had stopped to help with what they thought was a stalled car.

The victim told police he left work on January 14th and was heading to Walmart in St. Cloud when he saw a disabled car in the parking lot. He said he offered to help the driver, identified by police as Kevin Lavar Jackson when Jackson demanded his money. The man said he thought Jackson had a gun, so he took off running. According to the criminal complaint, the victim said he saw the black metal barrel of a gun, which Jackson pulled from his waistband.

Surveillance video allegedly shows Jackson getting out of a car with his back toward the victim. The criminal complaint says Jackson made a motion with his hands “consistent with chambering a bullet into a semi-automatic handgun” before turning toward the victim.

Jackson has been charged with felony attempted robbery. Bail was set at $10,000.
