(KNSI) – CentraCare Health is halting COVID-19 testing for anyone who is asymptomatic. CentraCare officials say the reason is low testing supplies and high demand. The testing policy goes into effect immediately.
This pause on asymptomatic testing includes getting a return to work test, daycare testing, pre-travel, event testing, and COVID-19 confirmation tests “worried well” repeat testers.
CentraCare encourages asymptomatic tests to be taken at a community site or an at-home COVID-19 test.
For people who have a known exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, CentraCare says to follow quarantine guidelines and practice strict mask wearing for the entire ten days. If symptoms develop, a test can be scheduled.
CentraCare Health says those eligible for a COVID test from CentraCare/Carris Health are people experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, long-term care patients and pre-procedure testing.
We are hopeful this pause in testing will be temporary and ask for your continued help in stopping the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask, getting vaccinated, socially distancing and washing your hands.
