(KNSI) – Waite Park is requiring a medical-grade mask for the public and employees when inside any city-owned building. The city council made the decision at Monday’s meeting.

According to city officials, a mask is required regardless of vaccination status or whether a person had COVID. Medical grade masks will be available to the public and all employees.

The Waite Park City Council will reevaluate and determine if the mask requirement is necessary at their next city council meeting on February 7th.

The requirement includes anyone visiting the Waite Park Senior Center.

Local healthcare officials asked Waite Park to enact a mask mandate citywide, but the council declined. Instead, Waite Park joined other communities in signing a letter encouraging people to wear masks indoors.
