(KNSI) – A farmer near Melrose in Stearns County lost 48 cows in a barn fire. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters were called around 5:40 a.m. on January 4th to 29191 Wedgewood Road in Millwood Township.
The caller reported flames could be seen coming from the front of the barn in the hay storage area. The caller also said that the barn was 60 feet from other buildings and 48 cows inside.
By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, a large part of the barn was engulfed in flames. The barn sustained extensive damage.
