SAINT CLOUD (KNSI) —

The Pierz Pioneers defeated the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders in high school girls basketball action on Thursday night.

Cathedral hung around in the first half, but Pierz went on a run and led by 16 at halftime.

The Pioneers continued to grow their lead in the 2nd half thanks in large part to Ashley Kimman who scored a team high 14 points on the night.

For her efforts, Kimman was named the All-Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Game.

Pierz cruised in the second half and came away with a 59-40 victory.

Ellie Pelzel led the way for the Crusaders with 13 points.

Pierz improves to 7-2 on year and 3-0 in the conference while Cathedral falls to 5-4 and 1-1 in the Granite Ridge Conference.
