(KNSI) – More perks are being added to the parking plan in downtown St Cloud.

According to the city’s website, several changes to the current plan will go into effect starting January 1st. The new Parking Pilot PLUS plan adds an extra hour of free parking, starting at 5:00 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends. Five surface lots have been added to the free parking list for those who don’t want to park in a ramp.

Under the plan, parking space time limits are increasing. On-street parking meters now have a three hour limit, and surface lots have a five hour limit.

For businesses and workers downtown, a new Z permit has been created for parking in the cloverleaf and River’s Edge North lots, plus business reserved parking spaces can be rented by businesses for reserved employee parking.

Extra security patrols will provide additional coverage in the earlier hours of the evening.
