(KNSI) — A 20-year-old from South Haven is now charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman while she slept.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman went to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and said she had known Nathan Steven Valley for a few years, but they never had a sexual relationship. She said Valley picked her up and drove her to his house, where she fell asleep. She said she woke up, partially undressed, and Valley touching her under her clothing. She explained that she told Valley no and moved away from him, but he pulled her back and continued touching her. She said she told him no again, and he left the room. She said she also had marks on her body and had no idea how they had gotten there.
The criminal complaint says the woman engaged Valley in a “controlled text conversation” with the “oversight of law enforcement,” where he admitted to touching her while she was sleeping and again after she had woken up. He also allegedly admitted to police that he touched her while she was sleeping.
Valley is charged with one count of felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Bail was set at $50,000 without conditions. He is due back in court on March 17th.
