(KNSI) – Another round of arctic cold is heading for Central Minnesota. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Meeker, Wright, and Morrison Counties from 6 p.m. on Friday (New Year’s Eve) to noon on Saturday January 1st.
Meteorologists expect temperatures of -17 on Friday evening with a wind chill value of -35. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
Officials say to Use caution while traveling outside. Limit outdoor activities if possible and wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves.
A Wind Chill Advisory was issued on Monday night and into Tuesday morning after a blast of polar air brought with it wind chill readings of -25 to -35 in the St. Cloud area.
