(KNSI) – Six people were able to walk away from a head-on crash in Stearns County. The sheriff’s office was called to a two-vehicle crash on County Road 133 in St. Wendel Township around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
The initial report stated several people were hurt and the victims were trapped in the vehicles. When first responders arrived, they were able to get the victims out of the vehicles without using the jaws of life.
Investigators say Karen and her husband Joseph Loehrer were headed northeast on County Road 133 when a 2003 GMC Yukon driven by Patience Fleck lost control and spun out. Fleck’s SUV hit the Loehrer’s 2021 Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee came to rest in the ditch and the Yukon on the road, leaving the area partially blocked.
Fleck and her three children and the Loehrers were examined by a Mayo ambulance crew and released.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office would remind drivers always to be aware of the potential for changing road conditions. They say it is best to leave early during inclement weather, reduce your speed, and increase your distance from other vehicles.
The hometowns of those involved in the accident weren’t released.
