(KNSI) – New Laws take effect in Minnesota with the beginning of the new year.
Beginning January 1st, any employer with more than 15 employees is required to offer “reasonable accommodations” to workers that have health conditions relating to pregnancy or childbirth.
Opioid screening limits are repealed. Medical assistance must now cover the cost of screenings and urinalysis tests with no lifetime or annual limits. A number of other medical assistance provisions go into effect. A new law allows for a 90 day supply for some prescriptions and the dispensing fee goes up $0.29 to $10.77.
Starting in January, any member of the 11 federally-recognized tribes in Minnesota can get a free permit to state parks.
Three new license plates are available. The Minnesota 100 Club, agriculture, and honorary consul plates will be available to the public, plus Minnesota divers licenses cannot be suspended following a conviction for driving under suspension, driving after revocation, or based on the driver’s failure to pay a parking ticket, traffic ticket or surcharge.
