(KNSI) — A 19-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly stealing credit cards, ringing up thousands in fraudulent transactions, and giving false information to police.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called Sunday morning for a report about Airpods and a debit card stolen out of a car in the Holiday Inn parking lot. The man said his debit card was used to rack up $2,000 in Target, Olive Garden, St. Cloud Tobacco, and Holiday purchases. The man told investigators he tracked the Airpods via their internal GPS to a parking lot near Rasmussen College.

Police say they saw Salahadin Hassan Oumar and two other people sleeping inside a car in the parking lot and that burnt tin foil and cut straws were scattered around the car in plain view. A further search of the vehicle allegedly turned up stolen tools, a handgun magazine and ammunition, checkbooks and credit cards that didn’t belong to the three, stolen phones and backpacks, along with the victim’s Airpods and his debit card. They also reportedly found a laptop and credit card that had also been reported stolen.

Due to the high volume of stolen goods in the car, the three were placed under arrest. The criminal complaint also says a pill, believed to be Oxycodone, rolled out of Oumar’s jacket pocket.

Surveillance footage obtained from Target allegedly shows Oumar using a stolen credit card to buy $728.11 worth of items. A loss prevention officer says he also saw Oumar use the card to complete various other transactions before handing the card off to someone else before the three got back in the car and left.

Oumar allegedly gave his brother’s name to police, but fingerprint identification and another officer familiar with Oumar’s brother led them to his true identity. Oumar has been charged with financial card transaction fraud, giving a police officer a fake name, and fifth-degree drug possession in this case.

Another criminal complaint also filed against Oumar says a woman called police on November 15th to say her wallet had been taken from her vehicle, and she watched the thief leave in a silver sedan. She said purchases were made at Journey’s, Target, The Buckle, and Best Buy. There was also another unsuccessful purchase for $600 at Best Buy on the same day. Surveillance footage from Scheel’s shows Oumar allegedly buying a jacket for more than $1100. Employees at Journey’s say Oumar also bought boots for roughly $396.

The criminal complaint says Oumar ran up more than $2700 in purchases on the woman’s stolen cards.

He is also charged with one count of financial transaction fraud in this case.

Bail is set at a combined $100,000.
