(KNSI) — The 31-year-old husband of a Little Falls woman whose body was found under a bridge has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Jonathan Greyblood was charged with two counts of felony second-degree murder in connection to the February 2021 death of 37-year-old Jeanine Greyblood. A Morrison County jury acquitted him on second-degree murder with intent but convicted him of unintentional second-degree murder.

Jonathan reported his wife missing on February 6th after he said she walked away from a home about 1:30 a.m. and wasn’t dressed for the cold.

According to the criminal complaint, Jonathan told police he and his wife had been drinking at a bar and then went to a friend’s house but left because the two had started fighting. He said they continued to fight on their way home, but she was driving and went to Pine Grove Park, where they continued arguing. Jonathan told police she got out of the car without her coat or phone and said she was walking to a friend’s house.

Jonathan told investigators he went to get her coat and then drove to their friend’s house, but couldn’t find her, so he drove around looking and then called the police.

Investigators from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension interviewed Jonathan the morning of February 7th, and he allegedly told them the two were arguing in the car in their driveway. He said Jeanine was hitting him, and he defended himself by putting his hands around her throat and “squeezed her throat until she went limp.”

He said he tried to revive her, but he panicked and dumped her body under a bridge when it didn’t work.

Investigators went to the site where they found Jeanine’s body on top of the ice under the bridge and arrested Jonathan.

Court documents asked for a downward departure in sentencing for Jonathan, citing abuse at the hands of his wife, and he “feared for his life during the incident that led to her death,” and that evidence showed she was the aggressor.
