(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a crash early Wednesday morning on Interstate 94.
According to an email from Sergeant Jesse Grabow, at about 12:40, the state patrol was called to a multi-vehicle injury crash near Avon. They say the semi truck driver pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with lumber was heading west on I-94 when he fell asleep and drifted into the concrete median barrier. The lumber broke loose and spilled into the eastbound lanes.
An eastbound passenger vehicle hit the lumber and stopped in the road before it was rear-ended by a straight truck. An eastbound semi jackknifed to avoid the debris.
The highway was closed for a short time for investigation and cleanup.
One person was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
