(KNSI) – Farm women who want more education on the business of farming are welcome at Annie’s Project.
The six-week farm management education series meets Thursday evenings in January and February. Katie Drewit is the local Extension Educator for horticulture, small farms and local foods in Sterns, Benton and Morrison Counties. She says the information is useful no matter what type of farm you operate.
“So Annie’s Project is focused solely on women. So sorry, guys, this ones just for the women. We do have other programs focused on all decision-makers. But this one really focuses on bringing the farm women together. And when I say farm, that term can be pretty broad. So whether you have an off-farm job, you and your spouse, or parents, or maybe you’re looking to marry into a farm, we’re setting you up to be better business partners. So whether that is a livestock farm, a crop farm, a fruit and vegetable, farm, whatever that looks like to your family, all of this will be useful for you”
The program begins on January 20th at Warner Lake Park in Clearwater and meets for six weeks from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
“We will be talking about the five key areas of risk management. So these include financial, human resources, legal marketing, and production. And then we usually throw in a sixth topic that we talk about whatever extra bonus content we think our group will benefit from. So that might be having someone from the NRCS, or the FSA office come in and talk about programs that are available, that we maybe aren’t as familiar with.”
Pre-registration is required. Find more information here.
